Emerald Regulatory Update: September 2019

Snow-dusted sagebrush plain with distant flat-topped hills under a cloudy sky, marking a key Regulatory approval for Emerald.

Emerald has accomplished another regulatory approval milestone as part of its goal to farm renewable energy from existing shallow gas wells completed in coals.

Regulators granted Emerald approval in late September 2019 to enhance six shallow gas wells to generate renewable natural gas (RNG).

As of November 3, 2019, Emerald has completed the 6 well enhancements, and Emerald is monitoring all wells in the area for pressure and methane generation. Emerald also regularly collects and analyzes water samples from the 6 enhanced wells.

Emerald anticipates a 3- to 6-month monitoring period to evaluate this enhancement procedure. To Emerald’s knowledge, this is the first field test to occur of this type of downhole enhancement procedure in a wellbore.
