Emerald Regulatory Update: October 2021

Small industrial facility with large fans, pipes, and tanks on a grassy plain, highlighting a regulatory update for Emerald's operations.

On October 12, 2021, the Wyoming Oil & Gas Conservation Commission unanimously approved Emerald Operating Company’s regulatory request: Emerald can begin testing its patented gas-water separation downhole tool in several new wells.

Bearcat Energy LLC previously operated these wells. Operators shut them in during 2017, and they now remain orphaned (WOGCC Docket #391-2021).

These inactive wells are similar to Emerald’s currently productive wells, which have been delivering natural gas to sales for several years using the patented gas-water separation Tool.

The approved six-month testing period allows Emerald to determine how the Tool will perform in wells drilled and completed by other operators. The testing period will provide valuable feedback on optimal methods to equip other shut-in wells with Emerald’s patented downhole Tool and bring them back into a productive, economically viable state.

In addition, Bearcat Energy LLC has 250+ shut-in wells that are potential candidates for restarting production using Emerald’s Tool and process.
